Burial & Cremation
Deciding between burial and cremation is a deeply personal choice. At Shakespeare Funerals, we understand that this decision is often guided by a combination of personal beliefs, religion, family tradition, and practical considerations such as location and cost.
While certain unique legal or coronial circumstances may occasionally require a burial, for the vast majority of families, the choice is entirely yours. We are here to support you in whichever path you feel honours your loved one best.
Traditional Burial
For many cultures and families, burial is the preferred way to lay a loved one to rest. It provides a permanent physical site for family and friends to visit for generations.
We can help you navigate both public and privately owned cemeteries.
You have the opportunity to pre-purchase plots or secure them as required.
Many families choose “double plots,” allowing two people to be buried together or side-by-side.
In some cases, burial on family property is possible, provided the necessary local authority permissions are obtained.
Cremation
Cremation has become an increasingly popular choice, offering flexibility in how you choose to remember your loved one.
Once the cremation is complete, the ashes are returned to the family. There are countless ways to honour them, including interment in a niche wall, scattering in a sentimental location, or keeping them in a decorative urn.
Some families now choose to have ashes placed into specialty jewellery or gemstones as a lasting keepsake.
Generally, cremation is a more cost-effective option than a traditional burial, depending on the resources and memorial style selected.
